Dickens visited Liverpool multiple times during his life, and spent much of this time exploring a variety of places in the city. To help pin point some of the prominent locations which the author visited, I decided to create an interactive map which would show the places he visited, as they are in Liverpool today.
To explore the author’s movements, click on the link above to view the interactive map which will provide brief details of each visit. The yellow areas of the map highlight the various locations Dickens visited in Liverpool, while the blue areas show a variety of monuments which can be found in the city today. Clicking on either, will provide further details.
To explore how the streets of Liverpool looked while Dickens visited, compared to how they look in 2019, take a look at the National Library of Scotland’s fantastic side by side map.
